Texas A&M Football Prospect: Kellen Mond, QB

What can be said about Kellen Mond that hasn’t already been said? He was as reliable of a quarterback as this team could ask for, seeing drastic improvements from year to year as the starter for the Texas A&M Aggies.

Most importantly, he led this team to their best year of football in 2020-21, finishing with a 9-1 record at number four in the AP and Coaches Polls.

Mond’s largest strength, perhaps, is his longevity at the quarterback position. A large portion of the top prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft have much fewer starts. Mond has over 40. Pair this with the natural size and athleticism that is necessary at the NFL level and he’s a can’t-miss prospect.

Throughout his A&M career, Mond threw for 72 touchdowns and 27 interceptions, increasing his TD-INT ratio drastically by the time his senior year came around. In fact, in his last season, he threw for 19 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions, proving that he can be a safe, accurate passer.

After a strong Pro Day, Mond’s draft stock has skyrocketed. In a year that will see a lot of quarterbacks drafted, there are rumors that Mond could sneak into the middle of the first round. He has the talent to be there and whichever franchise takes a chance on him will likely be happy with their decision.
