Former Texas A&M Footballs star Johnny Manziel tested the CFL waters

He’d spend time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, eventually getting traded to the Montreal Alouettes. He wasn’t a superstar, but he played well when given the starting role for this Canadian team. He was gradually improving as a starter.

But just as quickly as he got going, his career would come to an end. Manziel broke the terms of his contract, which included going to therapy sessions, seeing a doctor, and taking weekly lithium tests. Lithium is a substance that Manziel used to treat his Bipolar Disorder.

At this point, the CFL would not sign Manziel, so he had to look at other options. He would sign with the 1-5 Memphis Express of the American Alliance of Football. Manziel’s career would come to an early halt again though, as he would receive a concussion, followed by the league shutting down.

At this point, it looked like Manziel was done with football. He didn’t officially retire, but in 2020, he made a series of comments implying that he was done with football. He would consistently reference the fact that he is happier in life without football.

That said, the perfect opportunity would present itself to Johnny Manziel in 2021.
