Texas A&M Football: 4-star inside linebacker prospect puts Aggies in top schools
The Texas A&M Football team has quickly become one of the hottest places for college football recruits to take an interest in. With Jimbo Fisher as head coach, players are buying into the future success of this program.
That said, the Aggies will be pretty thin at the linebacker position going forward. After seeing a 2021 class with zero pure linebackers joining the roster, the Aggies are putting a lot of eggs into that basket going forward.
Buddy Johnson showed that the linebacker spot can be one of the most dominant positions on this team with four years of top-level football, helping the Aggies create one of the best defenses in the country.
The Texas A&M Football team made 2022 prospect Stone Blanton’s list of top schools
On Wednesday, 4-star inside linebacker prospect Stone Blanton tweeted out his top seven schools with the Aggies listed as one of them. See for yourself.

Stone Blanton is the 293rd-ranked recruit in his class and the 10th best inside linebacker, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He holds offers from just about any relevant schools in the southern portion of the US, so the Aggies will have a lot of competition.
Other schools in his top seven include Louisville, Standford, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Oregon.
Texas A&M has to be considered a frontrunner to receive a commitment from the 2022 linebacker, as they have arguably the biggest need of any of these schools at that spot.
Blanton was originally committed to Mississippi State, a school that his parents both graduated from. As a result of this, the Bulldogs will be a tough team to contend with. He is their commit to lose. That said, Jimbo Fisher will likely be recruiting Blanton hard, as he could fill a hole left by Buddy Johnson on a team that doesn’t have a deep pool of talent at inside linebacker for future years.
He would join a 2022 Texas A&M Football class that currently ranks 5th in the country, headlined by now 5-star quarterback Connor Weigman. He would become just the third defensive player in next year’s class out of 8 current commits.
