Former Texas A&M Football player Kellen Mond falls to day three

The possibility that Kellen Mond falls to day three of the 2021 NFL Draft is very real. While he should go earlier, I’m here to tell you how he could fall in the draft.

There are a few knocks against Mond as a prospect and most of them are in relation to the fact that he was never a big-play quarterback. Mond would prefer to make shorter throws as opposed to high-risk, high-reward deep balls.

This comes as a result of the fact that he has never been a strong player when throwing deep balls. He’s not worryingly bad, but teams will often prefer players who can consistently make these types of throws. According to NFL.com, his deep throws are often flat and overthrown, which was true at times.

That said, Mond isn’t going to be making his money by making risky deep passes. At Texas A&M, he was a safe player who could threaten teams with his legs, there’s no sense in changing that.

That said, a lot of teams are looking for players who have more explosive resumes. Because of this, he may drop to day two, landing somewhere in the 4th or 5th rounds. Let’s hope this doesn’t happen, but it’s a possibility.
