The Texas A&M Football team’s 2022 recruiting class is far from complete. There are only eight commits, but each of these players has been constantly improving throughout the season. So much so that the Aggies class has surged into the top five.

Jimbo Fisher has been an elite recruiter for the Aggies thus far, bringing some of the program’s best all-time recruiting classes to College Station. After the 2021 and 2022 cycles, he’ll have a team filled with only his players.

We’ll see what kind of damage he can do.

The Texas A&M Football 2022 class has rising players left and right

Take offensive lineman Hunter Erb for example. Since committing to Texas A&M, the big man has gone from being an unranked recruit to a top 105 recruit. I guess he couldn’t have bumped up five more spots to be called a top-100 recruit, but who’s complaining?

These Aggies’ recruiting classes are everything that this program needed. After a handful of seasons of strong, but inconsistent recruiting, Jimbo Fisher has kept all of his classes ranked in the top seven in 247Sports’ composite rankings.

And it’s not just the overall rankings — Fisher’s 2022 class is extremely well-rounded from top to bottom, even with just eight players so far.

The class has a 5-star quarterback in Connor Weigman. A top-60 defensive end in Malick Sylla. Two 4-star offensive linemen and a handful of skill position players. Fisher isn’t just trying to get his hands on every top recruit he can — he’s working with some strategy here.

And that’s exactly what goes overlooked by a lot of coaches when putting together a class. Whether there aren’t enough players available or they simply don’t see the importance of having a well-rounded class, there aren’t many schools that have talent coming in at every position as the Aggies do.

Hopefully, Fisher can continue to dominate on the recruiting trail, bringing the best players from the state of Texas to College Station. That said, his 2022 class is still ranked 3rd in the SEC, so there’s a long way to go before he reaches the top of the league in this aspect.

For now, we can appreciate how far he has brought this program in just a few short years.
