The Texas A&M Football team didn’t have an amazing offensive unit in 2020. They did what they had to in each game, while the defense carried the bulk of the load. In 2021, that defense will return a handful of its starters, giving this offense a chance to do something special.

And with the departure of Kellen Mond, a new quarterback will step in. At first, his sights will likely be set on fitting in with the Aggies in the SEC. That said, this team could have a serious Heisman contender down the road.

But it won’t necessarily happen this coming season.

The Texas A&M Football team has more Heisman potential in a few years

In all likelihood, this team won’t have a Heisman winner in 2021. In fact, looking at the offensive production from the past few years, this unit could take a big step back.

But Jimbo Fisher has been transitioning the offense that he saw under Kevin Sumlin into his own. With Kellen Mond under center, there weren’t many drastic changes that could take place without messing up what had already been built.

With Mond and an experienced offensive line out of the system, this opens up the Aggies’ offense for some extremely effective changes. Mond was great, but he had a distinct ceiling with Texas A&M.

Whoever fills in for him could become a more explosive passer. In fact, there’s no reason to believe that this school can’t reach Johnny Manziel-level heights with Kellen Mond’s predecessor.

Here are 3 players on the Aggies roster that could become Heisman winners.
