Texas A&M Football TE Jalen Wydermyer will be a highly-touted draft prospect

The Texas A&M Football team was never elite offensively. They were led by a high-powered defense and did just enough to stick around in each game. That said, there is one piece to this unit that stands out in a crowd. Literally.

Jalen Wydermyer stands at 6-5, with 260 pounds of bulk added on. He is a big tight end who can block well and catch the ball with the best of them.

In two years with the Texas A&M Football team, Wydermyer has accumulated nearly 1,000 yards in the air on 78 receptions. His 12.2 yards per reception is a strong stat, while he has pulled in 12 touchdown catches in his time in College Station.

Wydermyer is the whole package at tight end. On a Texas A&M receivers’ room that didn’t produce many yards in the air, the big tight end stepped up as an option for Kellen Mond in 2020. He was second on the team in receiving yards last season with 506 and tied Ainias Smith for most touchdown receptions.

Wydermyer should go early in the draft, even if he has a bad season with a new quarterback throwing him the ball. That said, he is projected to be one of the top tight ends in the 2022 NFL Draft class, with multiple outlets seeing him taken in the first round.
