Former Texas A&M Football QB Ryan Tannehill is an unexpected NFL star

Who saw this coming? I mean, most Texas A&M fans will tell you that they expected this, but realistically, Ryan Tannehill having the career that he has had was a long shot.

The easy story here was that Ryan Tannehill came into College Station as a wide receiver, but more realistically, he came in as an all-around athlete. He was a track star in high school and came to Texas A&M as a guy who could compete for the starting quarterback job. But he wouldn’t get it, and as a result, we’d see him play more snaps as the wideout position.

It would take until his redshirt senior season to become the full-time starter, but he’d play extremely well. So well, in fact, that he’d be drafted with the 8th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.

It would take his career a while to get going, but he came out of nowhere for the Tennessee Titans in 2019, leading the league in passer rating. He would be selected to a Pro Bowl and earn NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors. He has a few years left on his contract with the Titans, so look for him to continue domination for the next few years.
