Haynes King is the most likely starter for the Texas A&M Football team in 2021

While Calzada is the current underdog, Haynes King is the most likely starter for 2021. As the offseason progresses, this seems less like a quarterback competition and more like King’s job to lose.

But why does King seem like such an overwhelming favorite?

For starters, he’s more of a dual-threat quarterback than Zach Calzada. While Calzada is definitely capable of rushing effectively when necessary, he’s more of a pocket passer than King. Again, think of King as Manziel and Calzada as Mond.

That said, King is less experienced and will likely be more of an exciting, big-play type of quarterback. We may see some wild plays, but he’ll keep your eyes glued to the TV for the full 60 minutes of football.

Expect this to translate on the field to a lot of total yardage and a high touchdown total, even in a season where the team will likely depend more on Isaiah Spiller and the rushing attack to guide their offense.

Here’s what I predict Haynes King’s stats to look like:

Passing: 56% completion, 2,300 yards, 21 TD, 9 INT

Rushing: 700 yards, 6 TD

Next. Isaiah Spiller is the SEC's best returning RB. dark
