Texas A&M Football TE Jalen Wydermyer will be an extension of Kenyon Green

As an extension of the offensive line, it’ll be vitally important for Jalen Wydermyer to step into a similar leadership role as Kenyon Green. Even though he won’t technically be in the trenches, he could teach young players a lot about their new roles.

Wydermyer is a strong blocker — he wouldn’t be considered a top 2022 NFL Draft prospect if he wasn’t. Getting him involved with the young players on this team could go a long way.

As things stand, Wydermyer is the only player who could form an argument for “best player” on the offense outside of Kenyon Green. In two years, the tight end has amassed 78 catches for nearly 1,000 yards with a dozen trips to the endzone

This means that he’ll be a go-to target for whoever steps in as quarterback. Whether it be Haynes King or Zach Calzada, the first-year passer will likely be throwing the ball to Wydermyer more than any other target. When in doubt, toss it up to the big-bodied tight end and hope for the best.

This only further stresses the importance of Wydermyer in building connections with the new quarterback. Hopefully, he’ll become somebody that teammates look up to throughout the 2021 season.
