It’s no secret that the Texas A&M Football team has one of the most talented rosters across college football. In fact, there may not be a more proven roster in the league than the one in College Station.

In 2021, this is a team that won’t just be competing for an SEC title, they’ll be competing for a spot in the College Football Playoff, where they’ll have a chance to fight for a national championship for the first time in nearly a century.

As a result of the immense hype and talent on the roster, the Aggies’ have received a lot of love from Athlon Sports, who recently released their preseason All-SEC teams.

The Texas A&M Football team had eight preseason All-SEC players listed by Athlon Sports

Clearly, the media is continuing to buy into the hype surrounding Jimbo Fisher’s squad in 2021, as the Aggies saw nine of their players listed on Athlon Sports’ All-SEC teams. Specifically, five of those players were listed as first-team All-SEC players. Those individuals were:

  • Ainias Smith (Punt Returner)
  • Isaiah Spiller (Runningback)
  • Jalen Wydermyer (Tight End)
  • Kenyon Green (Offensive Tackle)
  • DeMarvin Leal (Defensive End)

The most surprising part about the All-SEC first team may be the fact that the Texas A&M Football team is mostly represented by offensive players, even though the team’s offense was the weaker of its two units in 2020. That said, they’re due for vast improvements.

But the recognition didn’t end there. The Texas A&M Football team had a pair of players listed on Athlon Sports’ All-SEC second team. Here are those players:

  • Ainias Smith (Wide Receiver)
  • Jayden Peevy (Defensive Line)

The peculiar thing here will be the fact that Ainias Smith was listed for a second time. It’s not a typo — Smith’s versatility is simply on display. On the first team, he was listed as a punt returner, while the second team saw his name show up as a wide receiver, where he’ll play a majority of his snaps in 2021.

Peevy, on the other hand, is a reliable defensive lineman who is poised for a strong season. He’ll look to step up as a leader for the Aggies in 2021.

That’s not even the end of it, either. On the fourth team (yes, I know four teams is strange), the Aggies saw two players listed. Those players are:

  • Myles Jones (Cornerback)
  • Demani Richardson (Safety)

Myles Jones and Demani Richardson aren’t stars of the defense but could show up as dominant players in the SEC. Both of them have a handful of experience already under their belt and will look to improve their NFL Draft stock as the season approaches.

Their presence on this list is just another testament to how talented this team’s roster is.

If the Aggies’ are able to live up to the hype, it could be an extremely exciting season that sees the Texas A&M Football team compete for their first national championship since the 1930s.
