The Texas A&M Football team feels like it’s on the verge of something great. With Jimbo Fisher, a former national championship-winning head coach, in charge, the sky is the ceiling for this Aggie Football program.
National media is recognizing this, as TAMU is ranked in the top ten of most early college football rankings.
But even in a year where it feels like the Aggies are destined for greatness, there are a lot of question marks. That said, these are necessarily negative question marks. For example, the wide receiving core is a complete mystery to this point but holds arguably more talent than any other unit on the team.
As a result of this, a lot of players will have new career highs in any given category. Without further ado, here are five Texas A&M Football players who will set new career-highs in 2021, with a single honorable mention.
Honorable Mention: Whoever wins the Texas A&M Football quarterback competition will set a new career-high (shocking, I know).
This one doesn’t really count, though I thought it would be worth mentioning. The TAMU Football team currently has one of the better quarterback competitions in recent memory happening right before our eyes.
The jury is still out, and on September 4th, either Haynes King or Zach Calzada will be stepping out onto the field as the team’s starting passer.
Whoever it is will be guaranteed to set a new career-high in passing yards on the season, probably surpassing their previous number in a single game. The only reason that I’m mentioning these guys on this post is that I think they’ll have a higher ceiling than Kellen Mond.
Mond had a great career in College Station, but whoever grabs the baton has the pieces in place to be one of the greatest quarterbacks in this school’s history.
Look for the eventual started to exceed some of Mond’s career-highs in their first season.
