Texas A&M Football RB Isaiah Spiller is set for an explosive season, as he’ll carry this offense on his back
In all likelihood, the Aggies won’t be relying heavily on a first-year starting quarterback and a new-look offensive line to guide them to a College Football Playoff appearance — at least not at first. Instead, the bulk of the load will be on third-year starting runningback Isaiah Spiller’s shoulders.
And while this may come off as a negative immediately, Spiller is the perfect guy to hold the weight of the team on his shoulders while his new counterpart settles in.
Spiller rushed for 946 yards as a freshman and increased that number as a sophomore, even with a smaller sample of games. He just barely cracked the thousand-yard mark, recording 1,036 yards with nine touchdowns on the ground.
In 2021, he has every opportunity to not only beat but crush both of those numbers.
Spiller is arguably the best returning runningback in the conference, and with first-round pick aspirations, he’ll be out to prove his worth in the upcoming season. Pair this with the fact that he now has Devon Achane breathing down his neck and we should see a career year out of Spiller.
