Texas A&M Football CB Jaylon Jones is quietly one of the most talented players on this team

Throughout all of the hype surrounding players like Isaiah Spiller and DeMarvin Leal, there is one name that gets lost in the mix on this Aggie Football team. That name is Jaylon Jones and it belongs to a former 5-star high school prospect.

Jones was listed as the top-ranked safety in his class and one of the best overall prospects. In College Station, he’s a cornerback and a good one at that.

His first season was relatively quiet, as cornerback can be a difficult position to settle into at the next level. That said, he’ll only continue to improve, as the physical tools and natural instincts have always been there. At this point, it’s only a matter of him learning the game.

I would expect Jones to take the next step in the 2021-22 season, recording at least a few interceptions and cementing himself as a lockdown corner. Even so, I think he won’t reach his full potential next year, leaving fans excited for his next season.

Last year, he recorded an interception and 6 pass deflections. Expect both of these numbers to increase in fast order.
