The Texas A&M Football team is prepping up to take a shot at the College Football Playoff in 2021. To get there, they’ll have to squeeze as much talent out of their current roster as physically possible, as they’ll likely have to defeat the Alabama Crimson Tide to gain entry.

Since 2019, Nick Saban’s team has had either the best recruiting class in the country or the second-best recruiting class in the country every year. There isn’t a more talented college football roster than the one in Tuscaloosa.

So even though the Aggies have an extremely talented roster, they’ll need their top players at every position to step up.

Enter Texas A&M’s defensive line.

5-star Freshman DL Shemar Turner will give the Texas A&M Football team a significant boost in 2021

When looking at the Aggies’ 2021 recruiting class, there are a few names that jump off of the page. Some people will notice LJ Johnson, a 4-star top-5 runningback in his class. Some will see Eli Stowers’ name, a 4-star dual-threat quarterback who could push for a starting spot in the near future.

But the best recruit for this team isn’t on the offensive end. That player will be on the defensive line, and it’s not top-40 defensive lineman Tunmise Adeleye.

Instead, your name will jump to the top of the list and see Shemar Turner, a defensive lineman that took every bit of recruiting magic from Fisher and his staff to bring into College Station. Turner is the only 5-star in the class when looking at 247Sports’ composite rankings.

At 6’3.5″ and 282 pounds, the incoming freshman is already built for SEC Football. Physically, he might even be a step ahead of most SEC defensive linemen. He has the type of size that the Texas A&M Football team might need in a matchup against arguably the most physical program in the country in Alabama.

Turner may be fighting for playing time immediately with a crowded room of defensive linemen, but he is a physical specimen who should be able to make an instant impact.

That said, his snaps may be limited at the start of the season, even if they are extremely impactful. Turner will be another player who can jump in and wreak havoc on opposing offensive linemen like it’s nothing.

In fact, if DeMarvin Leal‘s career doesn’t pan out, the Aggies essentially have a clone in Shemar Turner. This TAMU defensive line will be among the scariest in the country, with better young talent than any other school in the NCAA.
