While the Texas A&M Football team will pride itself on its defensive prowess in the past few years, the bulk of their returning talent in 2021 will be on the offensive end. This will hint at the fact that Jimbo Fisher’s team could be more dominant on offense in the upcoming season.

Despite an inexperienced offensive line and quarterback position, you’ll find a few of the best returning skill position players in the country.

At the center of all of this returning talent, you’ll see Jalen Wydermyer, who is among the best returning tight ends in college football. Wydermyer had a strong season in 2020-21, acting as the team’s second-leading pass catcher and the team’s leading target in the endzone.

Wydermyer has had two similar seasons from a production standpoint but will look to take a big step forward as an offensive leader for the Aggies’ in the fall.

PFF listed Texas A&M Football TE Jalen Wydermyer as a top-3 returning tight end in 2021

Jalen Wydermyer has been receiving national recognition throughout the offseason. This time around, PFF recognized the Aggie tight end as a name to watch in the upcoming season.

Aggie fans will argue it, but Wydermyer was listed as the second-best returning tight end in the SEC to Georgia’s Arik Gilbert.

Actually, anybody will argue this as, on paper, there is no reason to believe that Gilbert will be a better tight end than Wydermyer next season. Before transferring, Gilbert put up just 368 yards and 2 touchdowns at tight end for a disappointing LSU team.

PFF normally has reasonable and reliable lists, so it is a bit of a surprise to see them swing and miss on one like this.

Wydermyer, on the other hand, has not had a season with less than 447 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns, proving that he’ll continue to be a force in the SEC. Gilbert can take his preseason honor, while Wydermyer will take being the number one target on an offense that is set for an explosive season in 2021.

If the Texas A&M Football team has a strong season, Wydermyer will be at the center of it.
