Among other targets, one goal remains vitally important for the Texas A&M Football team in 2021. Beat Alabama.

It’s a goal that every competitive SEC team sets before each season. In order to win the SEC and take a shot at the College Football Playoff, you have to beat ‘Bama. Those have been the rules ever since Nick Saban took over in Tuscaloosa.

Since joining the SEC in 2012, the Aggies haven’t had much luck reaching this goal on a year-to-year basis. In fact, in nearly a decade of games played since 2012, Texas A&M has only secured a single win over the Crimson Tide in an incredible upset in their first year in the Southeastern Conference.

That said, at this stage in Jimbo Fisher’s tenure, it doesn’t feel like Texas A&M is that far away from marching off of the field against ‘Bama with a win.

The Texas A&M Football team may be a superstar quarterback away from beating Alabama

The sentence above is relatively hyperbolic, but the point may stand. The Aggies are close to the Crimson Tide, but they’re missing something.

Kellen Mond was great in his time as quarterback of the Texas A&M Football team, but he was never a guy who would have an explosive performance on any given night as a quarterback. His strengths lied in the fact that he was extremely consistent and reliable. And maybe that’s what has been holding the Aggies back against Nick Saban.
