The Texas A&M Football team could have a deadly passing attack with two big-bodied targets

Even though it’s not something that you’ll be reading about throughout the entire offseason, Cupp’s return will be huge for this Texas A&M Football team. I’d go so far as to say that his return could be the difference between a good offense and a great offense.

Thus far, we’ve seen what happens when you have a single threat at the tight end position. Take away the Aggies’ only other big-bodied player in Caleb Chapman and this team was not difficult to cover defensively at times.

But on a team with two big tight ends, it will be nearly impossible to cover both Wydermyer and Cupp. Opposing defenses usually only have a single defender with the size and speed to cover a strong tight end. Throw both of these guys onto the field at the same time and one of them will have to be open.

It’s simple logistics.

In 2021-22, you can expect Wydermyer to take a step forward as TE1 and Cupp to fill the TE2 role seamlessly. The only concern remaining should be whether or not Cupp can return to peak physical form after two seasons on the sideline.

Again, this isn’t something that you’re going to hear about every day. That said, production from the tight end spot could open the door for Haynes King or Zach Calzada to have an explosive season that nobody sees coming.
