Texas A&M Football fans got a boost to their morning on Friday, just a day after the top-ranked long snapper in the country committed to play in College Station.
A big 2023 4-star quarterback followed this up with a commitment of his own, announcing that he’d be playing his college ball in Aggieland. This is a huge pickup for Jimbo Fisher, as the Aggies may have brought some security to campus for their 2023 class.
Here is the tweet in which he committed.
The future TAMU quarterback honored two family members in his tweet, which may have been part of his reasoning for committing to the Aggies.
That said, his family has generally stayed in the state of Louisiana, where he’s from. His parents both attended LSU, where his dad played football. He has a brother who plays quarterback at Louisana Tech.
Holstein had other plans.
Eli Holstein’s commitment to the Texas A&M Football team brings security to College Station
For the Aggies, Holstein will likely be the team’s prized recruit for the 2023 class through the end. The 6-3, 212-pound quarterback is ranked as the 7th-best quarterback in his class and the 125th best player overall. He was being heavily recruited by schools like Alabama, LSU, and Auburn.
Other offers include Ohio State, Mississippi State, and Georgia, among others.
WIth Holstein set to play for the Texas A&M Football team in 2023, the Aggies extended a streak of unnecessarily strong quarterback commits. Here is a list of each quarterback commit for Jimbo Fisher in the past five cycles.
- Zach Calzada (3-star)
- Haynes King (4-star)
- Eli Stowers (4-star)
- Connor Weigman (5-star)
- Eli Holstein (4-star)
To put it simply, Jimbo Fisher doesn’t miss at the QB spot. In all likelihood, at least a couple of the names listed below will become a star. Even the lowest-rated guy on that list in Zach Calzada is considered a 4-star by many recruiting websites.
Holstein will become the Aggies’ second commitment in the 2023 class to Anthony James, who committed to play for the Texas A&M Football team around four months ago. Right now, Fisher will be more focused on the 2022 class, but Holstein’s commitment may create a snowball effect for the 2023 class.
