Texas A&M Football blowout recipient No. 1: South Carolina Gamecocks

In the history of college football, the South Carolina Gamecocks have never defeated the Texas A&M Aggies. It sounds worse than it is — these teams have only faced each other a total of seven times, once a year since Texas A&M joined the SEC.

Even so, the Aggies have been on the winning end of every single matchup. In fact, these matchups have been growing increasingly lopsided in recent years.

After a blowout win in these two teams’ first head-to-head in 2014, the two squads played four consecutive close games, each ending with an 11-point margin of victory or less. That ended when, in 2019, the Aggies kicked the brakes off of the Gamecocks and won 30-6. This would continue in 2020, where TAMU would demolish Will Muschamp’s South Carolina team 48-3.

The Gamecocks will have a new head coach in Shane Beamer who inherited a brutal-looking roster. His strong point will be runningback Kevin Harris, who rushed for more yardage than the Aggies’ own Isaiah Spiller. Fortunately for Texas A&M, their rush defense is set to be one of the best in the country, so this shouldn’t be a huge concern.

Outside of this, South Carolina’s roster is a mess after a 2-8 finish in 2020. They’ll likely have to undergo at least a single year of beatdowns from the SEC before they show some semblance of competitiveness.

Expect this to be possibly the Aggies’ only SEC blowout of the year.
