The Texas A&M Football team has a handful of third-team selections to complement their first-teamers

You thought the Aggies were done there?

The Texas A&M Football team also had a handful of players selected as preseason third-team All-SEC players, with Ainias Smith leading the way.

Smith was selected as a third-team wide receiver, a position that he’ll be making a more full-time shift towards after jumping between wideout and runningback in his first couple of seasons. Smith was one of this team’s leading rushers in 2020 but with a boatload of returning talent, he will be making a return to the wide receiver position, where he led the team in receiving yards last season.

But Smith also earned recognition for his work as a return man. The third-year Aggie swiss-army knife was named a second-team return specialist. The shifty 5-10 receiver has recorded over 500 total return yards in his career. He’ll look to reach the endzone in 2021.

Smith was joined on the third team by Jayden Peevy, an Aggie defensive lineman who is set to step into the spotlight with some space opening up on the defensive line. Peevy has never been an explosive defender, but he is as reliable as they come. Expect a big season out of the defensive lineman who has already recorded 12 tackles for loss in his career.

The entire list can be found on the SEC’s website.
