A lot has happened in the last month, especially regarding college football. The shifts and changes were shocking, to say the least. Texas coming to the SEC still rubs a lot of Texas A&M Football fans the wrong way including myself — but that is for another day to talk about.

This week, we received better news.

The huge news of Bryce Anderson joining the Aggies was a roller coaster ride. From not even remotely considering the Aggies to committing to LSU, to decomitting from LSU, and now to narrowing it down to a classic battle we are all too familiar with. Many speculated Texas would end up with the prized jewel safety out of West Brook, but something changed. I think this commit digs deeper than the commit. This is a shift.

The Texas A&M Football team’s most recent commitment marks a shift in recruiting

For the last 20 years or so we can all admit it, a recruiting battle between Texas did not go A&M’s way a majority of the time. Texas has had the “brand” that drew many prospects to them by just their name. Unfortunately for them, the results have not been yielded on the football field in the last 10 years and it has dug them in a deep hole.

So what does this mean? It means Texas A&M is becoming that brand in football.

Texas had a lot of momentum riding into this as they have picked up some nice recruiting points over the last few weeks: they can announce they will be in the SEC soon, they have a coach from Alabama that has been and won a championship. The list goes on about what Texas can promise in the future. But in the present, Jimbo Fisher isn’t just knocking on the door for these recruits… he is kicking the door down.

Bryce Anderson is an extremely likable guy on and off the football field. He brings a lot of attention and leadership to the team. This is going to do nothing but make the Aggies even better. We are not only getting a top-50 in the class recruit — we are getting a kid that a lot of prospects look up to and that want to play with him. With him and Bobby Taylor committed, the Aggies are getting two kids that will recruit like it is their job.

This recruiting win shows how determined and how much time the staff is putting into recruiting. No matter who comes through College Station, they are being “wowed” by the show the coaches and players are putting on. There are still a lot of recruits that have yet to decide on where to go. And I believe with the newest Aggie commit, a lot of decisions are going to be made up.

Next. 2023's top prospect should be a high priority. dark

The tides have been turning for a while in Texas and this football season has a lot riding on it. Texas A&M has been only getting stronger and with recruiting going the way it is going I do not believe there’s a ceiling on what the Aggies can achieve in the next few years. Be prepared Aggie nation the floodgates are opening and the sleeping giant is finally wide awake.
