Texas A&M Football: 3 boiling hot takes heading into the 2021 season
Say what you want about the Texas A&M Football team heading into the 2021 season — nobody truly knows what to expect. On a squad with as much returning talent as it has new-look position groups, the Aggies’ 2021 season could see virtually anything happen.
With less than a couple of weeks leading up to the season, there’s only one thing left to do — speculate. We have a pretty solid idea of what this team is going to look like but the results are up in the air.
So what better to do than to come up with three boiling hot takes heading into the 2021 season?
Boiling Hot Take No. 1: The Texas A&M Football team will make the College Football Playoff regardless of result vs. Alabama
This one may be somewhat surprising, as it seemed all but sealed that the Texas A&M Football team has to beat the Alabama Football team in order to gain entry to the College Football Playoff. That much was proven last season, when the Aggies only had a single loss to ‘Bama, knocking them out of playoff contention.
This year, however, things are different for a couple of reasons.
For starters, both teams are replacing quite a bit of talent. Texas A&M’s replacements dropped their ranking a couple of spots from last year’s poll while Alabama’s seem to be overlooked by everybody in college football. My point here is that it’s hard to see ‘Bama vs. A&M being as much of a blowout as it has been in the past few seasons.
The Aggies will also have two more games than last season to prove themselves. Yes, they have an easy schedule, but if they’re able to finish at 11-1 with a single loss to Nick Saban’s squad, how could you deny them entry for two straight years?
I think the committee will have learned a lesson, especially considering the fact that Alabama blew out everybody they faced last season. A&M will get the nod, even if they finish 11-1.
