Texas A&M Football, Week 1 Bold Prediction No. 3: Isaiah Spiller will flirt with A&M’s single-game rushing record
The Texas A&M Football team’s single-game rushing yardage record is not an easy one to crack. At 290 yards, this record has held solid for 70 yards. Here’s why it could be broken on Saturday.
As detailed in the last slide, Kent State’s defense is terrible. That said, their passing defense was never very bad. In fact, their passing defense was actually among the better teams in college football in terms of passing defense efficiency. In that category, they ranked 8th in the country last year, allowing just two touchdown passes and a trio of interceptions.
Their rushing defense, on the other hand, might be the worst that the Texas A&M Football team has ever come up against. The Golden Flashes were the 5th-worst team in terms of yardage allowed per game, and again, they weren’t playing the cream of the crop.
The Aggies, on the other hand, are already likely planning on rushing the ball frequently with a new quarterback and developing offensive line. They were already a top-30 rushing unit in 2020 and are expected to improve in that facet of the game. This contest could be a bloodbath in the running game.
Isaiah Spiller is one of the best runningbacks in the game. With his draft stock on the line, he’ll have a lot to prove in 2021 and it’ll start on Saturday.
The only thing that could hold back Spiller from breaking Texas A&M’s rushing record is the fact that he may be taken out of the game before he gets a chance to do so.
