Texas A&M Football opponent Week 1 outcomes: South Carolina, Auburn

South Carolina Gamecocks, 46-0 W: South Carolina did everything that they were supposed to against Eastern Illinois plus some. Still, there’s only so much we can take away from a win against a really bad FCS team. Eastern went 1-11 in 2019, their last full season.

Still, you cannot fault the Gamecocks in any way for beating anybody 46-0, so for now, let’s just say that South Carolina is on track. Everything about their team looked solid on both sides of the ball, with strong performances out of quarterback Zeb Nolan and runningback Zaquandre White.

Auburn Tigers, 60-10 W: Auburn had one of the more quality wins of any team on the Aggies’ schedule in Week 1. Again, we’re talking about a really bad opponent in Akron, a team that has gone 1-18 in the past three seasons, but the Tigers still made this one as convincing as possible.

Quarterback Bo Nix looked sharp and Auburn had a pair of runningbacks eclipse the 100-yard mark, both of whom reached the endzone at least once apiece. Still, we won’t get a great idea of what Auburn is capable of until deeper into the season.
