The Texas A&M Football team takes on the New Mexico Lobos today in a matchup that should result in a big win for the Aggies. That said, A&M was also a heavy favorite against Colorado and barely snuck by with a win.

This game should have a more favorite outcome, however, as New Mexico has struggled mightily against top-25 opponents recently. Still, they are a threatening 2-0 team that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Today, I’m going over three New Mexico players to watch and what the Texas A&M Football team can do to keep them in check.

Texas A&M Football Week 2 players to watch: New Mexico S Tavian Combs

Normally, I would have just listed three offensive players from New Mexico’s roster. That said, with a backup quarterback preparing to start in Zach Calzada, the Aggies need to worry a little more than usual about their offensive production.

One player on New Mexico’s roster who could cause some issues is safety Tavian Combs, who has been playing great football thus far in 2021. Combs leads the team in pass deflections with two in two games. He also recorded an interception against Houston Baptist to complement his eight solo tackles.

In just his second year, the sophomore safety has been all over the field for New Mexico. As a freshman, he came second on the team with 51 total tackles. This year, he’s on track to lead his squad with a team-high 17 tackles.

Zach Calzada shouldn’t have too much trouble scoring, but he will have to keep an eye on this player in the secondary.
