Texas A&M Football: Myles Garrett just had the best defensive game of the year
The Texas A&M football team had a rough outing on Saturday. The Aggies lost to the Arkansas Razorbacks in a brutal offensive showing. Thankfully, it’s not all bad for Texas A&M fans, as a former Aggie football star had the game of his career in the NFL.
I’m referring to Myles Garrett, who recorded a jaw-dropping 47.5 tackles for loss and 31 sacks in his career with the Aggies. The Texas A&M defensive end had no trouble adjusting to the NFL, where he now resides as one of the best defensive players in the entire league.
This has been good enough for him to earn two Pro Bowl selections and a First-Team All-Pro selection in the 2020 season. It looks like he’s ready to repeat in 2021.

On Sunday, Myles Garrett’s Cleveland Browns took on the Chicago Bears in a game that looked like a good contest on the surface. We would quickly learn that the Browns were a far superior team.
Cleveland would trounce Chicago 26-6, allowing just one passing yard. In total, the Bears’ offense managed just 47 total yards.
Chicago’s offensive line was flat-out embarrassed by the Browns, who had nine sacks on the day — the most by any team since 2015. The same team had seven tackles for loss against a Bears offense that looked like a high school team. A large portion of these statistics came from Garrett, who had arguably the best game by any defensive player in the NFL this season.
Garrett recorded 4.5 sacks on Justin Fields. That number became a new single-game franchise record and Garrett’s personal best in the NFL. Chicago’s offensive line simply could not stop Garrett, who was spending virtually the entire game in Fields’ backfield.
To go along with his 4.5 sacks, Garrett had seven total tackles, six of which were solo. Beyond that, Garrett had four tackles for loss. The Browns’ defensive lineman had just a single sack on the season prior to this. This game alone will fault him, at least temporarily, to the top spot in the NFL with 5.5 on the year.
Aggie fans may not be receiving much joy out of watching their football team, but at least their favorite players are playing well in the NFL. Buckle down, Aggies.
