Texas A&M Football: 4-star prospect includes Aggies in narrowed list

The Texas A&M football team is playing top-notch football on the field, but that doesn’t mean that Jimbo Fisher has been slacking when it comes to recruiting. The Aggie head coach has been working as hard as ever, and earlier today, it paid off in a small way.

Following recruiting rankings and their trajectory never makes much sense throughout a recruiting cycle, but still, the Aggies have fallen a bit behind. Jimbo Fisher’s 2022 class is projected to land outside of the top ten, which is out of the ordinary for the Aggie head coach.

Fortunately for Fisher, his 2023 class is on the exact opposite trajectory. The Texas A&M head coach has his recruiting class ranked 4th in the country. Again, don’t look into this too much — A&M only has four commits in the class.

Still, he’ll look to continue bolstering this class as things progress.

4-star Kelby Collins just narrowed his top school list to eight teams and included the Texas A&M football team

Kelby Collins is a top-50 prospect out of Gardendale, Alabama. He holds offers from virtually any school you could name, including schools like Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, and a handful of others. The Aggies are another.

Collins is a 6’5″, 250-pound defensive lineman in the class of 2023 who would become the Aggies’ highest-rated player by 247Sports. In all likelihood, Jimbo Fisher is pouring a lot of resources into the defensive lineman.

Collins recently listed Texas A&M in his top-eight schools, where A&M will be in a dogfight with teams like Florida, Texas, and Georgia.

Fisher’s class already holds a top-101 overall player and defensive lineman in Anthony James. I cannot tell you how annoyed I am that he isn’t a spot higher, which would allow me to call him a top-100 recruit in the 2023 class. Maybe he can move up in the next update.

Regardless, the presence of another physically large defensive lineman in Collins would maintain Texas A&M’s physical defensive line, which has been on display for the entirety of Jimbo Fisher’s tenure as head coach.
