The Texas A&M football team hasn’t had the season they expected — with two losses already chalked up, the Aggies’ College Football Playoff hopes may have disappeared before they even began.

Thankfully, this is still a football team that is chock-full of talented players. This will become glaringly obvious if you look at virtually any 2022 NFL Mock Draft, where Texas A&M is extremely well represented.

In total, Jimbo Fisher’s squad has at least two players who are considered unanimous first-round picks at this point. Barring any sort of injury, this shouldn’t change. There are two more players who often sneak into the first round of mock drafts.

CBS Sports has four Texas A&M football players going in the first round of their 2022 NFL Mock Draft

For the sake of this article, I’m going to zone in on CBS Sports’ most recent 2022 NFL Mock Draft, which has four Aggie football players going in the first round. Those players are DeMarvin Leal, Jalen Wydermyer, Kenyon Green, and Isaiah Spiller. But where does CBS Sports have each player being taken?

Round 1 – Pick 5 (New York Giants), DL DeMarvin Leal

CBS Sports has DeMarvin Leal listed as the top-ranked defensive lineman in the 2022 draft class and the 8th-overall prospect. As things stand, they have Leal landing at the fifth spot to the New York Giants, who have shown interest toward big guys in recent years.

On the year, Leal has recorded 8.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, proving that he is capable of living up to the hype. The Aggie defensive end is just getting started, too, and has shown the capability of playing all over the defensive line.

Round 1 – Pick 11 (Denver Broncos), OL Kenyon Green

Much like the previous player mentioned, Kenyon Green is capable of playing football at virtually any position. This will make him an easier target for teams that have a fluid situation on their offensive line.

One of those teams is the Broncos, who CBS Sports has taking Green with the 11th-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Round 1 – Pick 16 (Cincinnati Bengals), TE Jalen Wydermyer

Jalen Wydermyer hasn’t had the explosive season that many experts thought he would, but if you take a step back, he’s still having a great year. In the Aggies’ most recent contest, Wydermyer caught four passes for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Ryan Wilson mentions Wydermyer’s connection with Kellen Mond, which proved how reliable the Aggie tight end can be as a receiver. Apparently, he’s reliable enough to be considered a mid-first-round pick.

Round 1 – Pick 27 (Arizona Cardinals), RB Isaiah Spiller

The 27th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft may not seem like the most glorious honor for Isaiah Spiller, but it has him as the first and only runningback selected in the first round of this mock draft. Sure, Spiller isn’t a Heisman-candidate type of guy, but he’s the prototypical modern-day NFL back.

Wilson poses that Spiller’s ability to make a difference in the running and passing game would give the Cardinals’ offense another dimension.
