Non-Texas A&M Football LSU HC Candidate No. 3: Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss

In my opinion, Lane Kiffin will be the next LSU football head coach.

The current Ole Miss head coach has the Rebels in a position that we haven’t seen them in… well, I’m not quite sure. Long enough that I’d have to do some research on the subject.

The Rebels are currently ranked in the top ten of the AP Poll and stand at 6-1 on the season. Kiffin’s passing attack, led by Matt Corral, is arguably the deadliest in the country. If not for a lackluster defense, Ole Miss would be an extremely frightening team. Heck, they still are, even with the 83rd ranked defense in the nation.

The Rebels only have two ranked opponents on their remaining schedule, so it seems like this team’s floor is a 9-3 season, which would be Ole Miss’s best in a half-decade.

Kiffin also stands to gain more than any of the other head coaching candidates listed here. While the jump from Michigan State or Penn State to LSU wouldn’t be very drastic, the jump from Ole Miss to LSU would be huge.

Kiffin would get every resource imaginable. If he’s already a great recruiter, imagine what he’d be able to do at LSU.
