Texas A&M Football Bold Prediction No. 2: Aggies’ defense will hold Ole Miss under 20 points

Ole Miss’s offense is really impressive. Matt Corral is a Heisman Trophy favorite and there may not be a team in the country who can stop Lane Kiffin’s offense. Things are simply clicking with the Rebels and I feel terrible for anybody who is on their schedule.

Well, that’s what I would have been saying after their first five games.

That five-game stretch saw Ole Miss average 46.2 points per game, even with a sluggish 21-point outing against Alabama. This looked like one of the best offenses in the country and Matt Corral looked unstoppable.

But since then, the Rebels have looked pedestrian offensively. In the last four games, Ole Miss is averaging just 27.3 points per game. If that were to stretch out throughout an entire season, the Rebels would rank 76th in scoring in the nation. For perspective, Texas A&M is averaging 35 points per game in that same stretch.

I’m saying all of this to make the point that Ole Miss’s offense simply isn’t as good as we thought it was. Matt Corral has looked human in recent weeks and teams, including Auburn, have found ways to shut down their offense.

Texas A&M has the best defense that Ole Miss will have faced all year long — I think that’ll show up on the stat sheet. I expect A&M to hold the Rebels under 20 points, something that hasn’t happened to Lane Kiffin’s team all year long.
