Texas A&M Football Player No. 3: Can Demond Demas find some consistency at the wide receiver position?

Demond Demas has been the center of one of the more tantalizing Texas A&M football storylines of the season. The Aggie wide receiver came in as one of the most hyped-up players at his position in Aggieland in a long time.

Unfortunately for Aggie fans, they’d have to wait an entire season before seeing any meaningful snaps from the wideout. Demas played in an under-complicated system in high school, and as a result, took longer to adjust to a complicated Texas A&M offensive system.

But he finally adjusted enough to begin receiving meaningful snaps in 2021. And thus far, we’ve had a mixed bag of performances out of the Aggie wide receiver.

In a season where Demas recorded one of the longest touchdown receptions in recent Texas A&M memory, the sophomore receiver has also had his low points. Two of those low points happened against Ole Miss, where his missteps may have caused a 14-point swing. Those missteps came in the form of a pair of dropped passes, one of which erased a touchdown and the other of which gave the Rebels an interception.

That said, I’m not here to speak negatively upon Demas — he’s an extremely physically gifted wideout, and plays like those against Ole Miss will not likely be a recurring theme.

Demas should look at the remainder of the 2021 season as an opportunity to get back into the groove that fans were hoping for earlier in the year. With three years of eligibility remaining after this year, the former five-star wide receiver still has a lot of quality football ahead of him.
