Texas A&M Football: 3 best parts of Aggies’ 52-3 win over PVAMU
No. 3: The Texas A&M football team saw strong rushing performances from… everybody
The Texas A&M football team had one of its best overall rushing performances of the year. The Aggies accumulated nearly 300 yards on the ground. Somehow though, none of the Aggies’ runningbacks gathered any more than 70 yards on the ground.
Instead, A&M’s backfield put up one of the more bizarre-looking stat sheets that I’ve ever seen.
Five separate Aggie football players accumulated at least 45 yards on the ground, including Yulkeith Brown, a freshman wide receiver out of Miami, Florida. Brown accumulated all of his yards on a single rush.
The two most obvious big rushers for the Aggies were Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane. A&M’s two primary backs combined for 115 yards and three touchdowns on the night. The real storyline here, however, was the guys behind them on the depth chart.
Most notably, Amari Daniels and LJ Johnson combined for 130 yards on the night. Daniels was the team’s leading rusher and also scored a touchdown against Prairie View. Daniels also led players who rushed more than once with 8.8 yards per carry.
Once again, we’re starting to see the emergence of some players who could have a huge impact next season and for many to come.
