The Texas A&M football team has been involved in bowl projections all year long — none of them matter until now. Heck, technically speaking, these bowl projections don’t even matter, as each bowl selection will be completely independent of them.

Still, it’s nice to get an idea of where the Aggies will land for their single postseason game this year.

Last year, Texas A&M finished 9-1 and played in the Orange Bowl, one of the best games around. After an 8-4 finish in 2021, it seems less likely (or impossible) that the Aggies will gain entry to a New Years Six bowl game. Still, A&M can play some meaningful football.

Which bowl games are the Texas A&M football team projected to appear in?

The Texas A&M football team won’t play in the SEC Championship Game or any bowl games associated with the College Football Playoff, but fans may benefit from a less-than-desirable season in 2021.

  • Sports Illustrated’s Richard Johnson has the Texas A&M football team appearing in the Texas Bowl on January 4th against Iowa State in Houston. This would be a contest that Aggie fans would be able to commute to and would likely feel like a home game for the Aggies.
  • CBS Sports has the Texas A&M football team appearing in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida against the Iowa Hawkeyes on New Years Day. It’s the lesser of the two citrus-related bowls, but would still be a good opportunity for A&M to prove itself.
  • 247Sports’ Brad Crawford has the Aggies appearing in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl, which may have a dumb name, but would pin A&M against a big brand in Clemson. This game would be on December 31st in Jacksonville, Florida.
  • College Football News also has the Aggies set to play in the Texas Bowl. In contrast with Sports Illustrated, CFN expects Texas A&M to take on West Virginia. Again, this would be close to home and an easy commute for the 12th man.
