No. 2 Texas A&M Football Target: LB Harold Perkins

The Texas A&M football team always has great linebackers and Jimbo Fisher is doing everything in his power to ensure that his streak of strong second-level play does not end. With Aaron Hansford set to depart, Fisher has the top linebacker prospect in the 2022 class in his sights.

I’m talking about Harold Perkins, a five-star linebacker out of Cy Park High School in Cypress, Texas. According to 247Sports’ rankings, Perkins is the sixth-best player in his class and top overall linebacker.

At 6’2.5″, Perkins is at a decent height for a player of his position. If you’re nitpicking and think that he lacks at all in the height category, he more than makes up for it with athleticism. If my word won’t sell you, this quote from 247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks might.

"Dynamic two-way player with big-play ability with the ball in his hands and as an attacking defender. Legitimately could be a high-major running back prospect in addition to elite linebacker recruit. Outstanding tester in a combine setting (4.49 40 prior to junior season). Athleticism jumps off the screen. Flashes home run-hitting speed as a ball carrier that translates to broad pursuit range on defense."

As recently as today, Perkins listed the Aggies in his top three schools.

Perkins would be the perfect player to fit into the Buddy Johnson/Aaron Hansford role on this team. But not as perfect of a fit as the next player on this list.
