Texas A&M Football QB Zach Calzada Transfer Destination No. 2: Western Michigan

As I’m writing this, Western Michigan is completely embarrassing a shorthanded Nevada team in the Quick Lane Bowl. How… you ask?

Kaleb Eleby.

Okay, technically Kaleb Eleby isn’t having the greatest game of his career — he currently has a modest stat line with just 14 pass attempts for 162 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Still, he’s been one of the best G5 quarterbacks in 2021.

Eleby is draft-eligible and may elect to opt-out of his senior season in favor of the big leagues. After all, the WMU passer put together an impressive season, throwing for over 3,000 yards, 21 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. If he does leave, Calzada should be on the Broncos’ radar.

Year after year, Western is one of the smaller G5 teams that seems to find unexpected success. Calzada could be the next quarterback in line to keep this team nationally prominent for the next few years.

That said, this is a big IF.
