The Texas A&M football team has been putting together a recruiting class that could shape into the greatest class in the history of college football. After a flurry of elite signatures on Early National Signing Day, Texas A&M jumped atop the 2022 class rankings list.

But Jimbo Fisher wasn’t done with this class there.

After rejecting a mega-contract from LSU, it seemed like there were no reasons for recruits not to commit to Aggieland. Since this happened, the Aggies have surpassed virtually every other elite school on the recruiting trail. On Sunday, they took their first step toward lapping these teams.

The Texas A&M football team just secured a commitment from five-star linebacker Harold Perkins

One of the biggest targets in 2022 for Jimbo Fisher was five-star Harold Perkins. It was obvious that Perkins wasn’t going to put pen to paper on signing day — he had scheduled his commitment for January 2nd long in advance.

Finally, he committed.

Perkins is a hyper-athletic linebacker who could fit the mold of a Buddy Johnson or an Aaron Hansford-type role. He plays all over the field and is a true college football runningback prospect. That said, he’ll likely stick to the linebacker spot for A&M. Here’s a small snippet from 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks.

"“Nevertheless, among the top prospects in Texas for his class and one of the top linebackers nationally. Possesses the potential to become a multi-year impact starter at the high-major level with long-term early-round NFL Draft upside.”"

At this point in time, it seems like the Aggies cannot miss in recruiting.

The next player in line will be five-star Shemar Stewart, who is considered a lean toward Texas A&M right now. His commitment was originally scheduled for January 2nd as well, so we could see him commit today and complete an untouchable Texas A&M football class.

If Texas A&M holds onto the recruiting crown, it will make them the first team in the past decade not named Alabama or Georgia to have the top-ranked class. If you were wondering, those are the two teams that will be competing for a national title this year.
