Texas A&M Football: Where is DeMarvin Leal landing in NFL mock drafts?
For Texas A&M football fans, the 2021 season wasn’t the best experience of all time. There were some great moments throughout though. Notably, the Aggies knocked off the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide at home before their season would end on a sour note.
That said, there is one event in the relatively near future that Texas A&M football fans should be eager to watch. I’m talking about the 2022 NFL Draft.
The draft will take place in mid-April and could see more than a handful of former Aggies taken. Notably, you’ll see names like Jalen Wydermyer, Kenyon Green, Isaiah Spiller, Leon O’Neal, and others near the top. But one name could be the hottest prospect on the list.
Where is Texas A&M football DL DeMarvin Leal projected to land in the 2022 NFL Draft?
DeMarvin Leal is one of the best defensive line prospects in the nation. Outside of a couple of key names, he’ll be one of the first to be called at his position in the 2022 NFL Draft. But just how early are we seeing his name selected? Here’s what a few media outlets think.
- FanSided’s NFL Mocks has DeMarvin Leal being selected to the Philadelphia Eagles with the 16th-overall pick. Notably, this would have Leal being selected higher than we’ve seen in any mocks for his offensive counterpart in Kenyon Green.
- Sporting News has DeMarvin Leal being selected by the Philadelphia Eagles at the 15th-overall pick. This is notably different from FanSided’s mock draft, as it has been updated since the Wild Card round.
- NBC Sports shows DeMarvin Leal being selected 13th overall by the Cleveland Browns. This would fill an immediate need for the Browns and give Leal an opportunity to make a name for himself as early as his rookie year. Here’s what else NBC Sports’ Adam Hermann said about Leal.
"“Cleveland has the best defensive end pairing in the NFL, but the interior of the line needs work. Enter Leal. He put up 8.5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, two passes defensed, and a forced fumble in 11 games this year with Texas A&M while also setting a career-high in tackles with 58. He played all over the line for A&M, and while his pass-rush ability needs a little work, all the tools are there for him to become a truly special player. The dude is a monster.”"
Wherever Leal ends up, he’s distinctly one of the highest-upside picks in this draft. After a monster 2021 season at A&M, teams will be lining up to pick up the former Aggie defensive lineman.
Time will tell, but Leal could be A&M’s pride and joy this summer.
