Change No. 2: Points Per Game (2021: 29.3)

This one is as obvious as it comes — the Texas A&M football team needs to create more scoring moving forward in 2022.

Last season saw the Aggies score 29.3 points per game, which isn’t the end of the world. That said, you cannot expect to succeed in the SEC with a middle-of-the-pack scoring tally on a game-by-game basis. Five games saw A&M score 24 or fewer points — four of those resulted in losses.

If Texas A&M wants to compete, they have to crack the top-25 in scoring next season. This should be easier with more security at the quarterback spot, but nothing is guaranteed.

Change No. 3: Turnover Margin (+1)

The Aggies’ turnover margin wasn’t glaringly horrible in 2021. At +1, A&M was in the middle of the pack in college football (61st) in terms of turnovers. The defense was generating enough turnovers to offset a shaky offense.

To be quite honest, this stat isn’t even the most important in the world. Georgia, who won the national championship, finished 49th in the nation at +3, while another College Football Playoff team in Michigan finished at 60th with +2.

The Aggies’ don’t have to be perfect in turnover margin, but it’s an easy category for the team to focus on. With the defense set to be elite again, some more careful offense could go a long way for the Texas A&M football team.
