The Texas A&M football team has a handful of miscellaneous talent coming in

Out: Aaron Hansford In: Nobody

One of the positions that Aggie fans should be worried about is the linebacker spot, where the Texas A&M football team will be losing a key player in Aaron Hansford. The sixth-year college football player has finally exhausted his eligibility, leaving a gap that won’t necessarily be immediately filled.

The unfortunate part about this is that A&M had a high-profile 2022 commitment as recently as January at this position in Harold Perkins. Perkins would decommit before eventually signing with the LSU Tigers, an in-conference rival.

Out: Leon O’Neal In: Antonio Johnson

Again, this position won’t necessarily see an upgrade but it won’t be much of a drop-off, either. In fact, when all is said and done, Johnson may have a better career than his predecessor. Leon O’Neal is out — he declared for the NFL Draft back in December — but he’ll be replaced by one of the team’s breakout players from last season in Antonio Johnson.

Johnson quietly had one of the best seasons of any safety in the SEC, recording 79 tackles, 8.5 for loss, a forced fumble, an interception, and five passes defended. He’s not the biggest name on the team, but Johnson could have a huge impact on this defense.
