Texas A&M Football: The case for who should be the next starting QB
Haynes King
It is very hard to bet against the person who should have been starting last year. His first start did not go as planned as he had two touchdowns and three INTs (albeit two were unlucky tips but if Kent State is making those plays so will anyone else in the SEC) but he has good accuracy going 21-33 for 292 yards and showed he can extend the plays by running for 22 yards. Playing the hypothetical game if tipped INTs hit the ground he would be looking at three or four touchdowns instead of two and more or less around 350 yards. Which is a great start.
The Case: Though his first game did not go as planned, he is still the most experienced player when it comes to the playbook and how Jimbo wants the offense to be operated. I believe regardless of Spring (unless he is just blown away by Johnson or Weigman) he will get first snaps against Sam Houston State on 9/3. His impact in the locker room as well as another year learning the playbook and improving his form will be hard to turn down.
