Texas A&M Football: 3 quarterbacks Aggies could target in 2023
The Texas A&M football team has been on fire when it comes to recruiting as of late. Aside from the Aggies’ record-breaking 2022 class, Jimbo Fisher has been unstoppable as a recruiter. Year after year, the Aggie head coach brings in the best talent at virtually every position.
Unfortunately, not everything can go the Aggies’ way — earlier this week, Texas A&M lost a commitment from Eli Holstein, the top overall commit and prized quarterback for the team’s 2023 class. Holstein isn’t necessarily ruling A&M out but he’ll be taking a look at other schools including Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State.
For the sake of this list, I’ll be excluding Eli Holstein from this list. I’ll be going over three other quarterbacks the Aggies could target in 2023, starting with a high-profile target.
Texas A&M 2023 QB Target No. 1: Nicholaus Iamaleava (Long Beach, CA)
Nichaulaus Iamaleava looks like the perfect prospect for Texas A&M. He’s not Arch Manning but he might be the next best thing.
The Aggies have already extended an offer to Iamaleava, who is ranked as the third-best overall prospect in the 2023 cycle. The only two ahead of him are, as mentioned, Arch Manning and Malachi Nelson, another player that A&M has offered.
Iamaleava is a 6’5″ quarterback from California who is currently committed to Tennessee. I chose him for this list over Nelson, another prospect from California, because Iamaleava seems more likely to leave his home state.
The Aggie prospect is a big-time athlete, doubling as a high-profile volleyball recruit. Despite towering over the competition at 6’5″, he can move pretty well. His physical profile has been compared to a big-bodied wide receiver.
Jimbo Fisher should look to flip this high-profile quarterback prospect.
