The Texas A&M basketball team has continued to prove the doubters wrong. After winning eight of its last ten games leading up to the NCAA Tournament, including three top-25 wins, the Aggies were snubbed from the big dance. The feeling of disappointment toward the committee has not subsided for Texas A&M fans.

Fortunately, the Aggies have not stopped chugging along.

Texas A&M has now won all four of its NIT contests — each by a margin of 12 points or more. Most recently, Texas A&M defeated Washington State by 16 points. The scoreboard didn’t even do it justice — it was a complete blowout.

It was (almost) a record-setting night for the Texas A&M basketball team

There was a lot to be excited about as a Texas A&M fan on the night. The Aggie baseball team knocked off No. 8 Texas in a big-time rivalry matchup away from home. A&M hoops followed suit by winning their basketball game against Washington State in the NIT Tournament. Among the excitement, the Aggies accomplished something impressive.

The Aggies just entered second place among all-time winning seasons in program history.

Texas A&M’s 27th win of the season sent them further beyond the 2007-08 season, where Mark Turgeon led the team to a 25-11 record where they reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. A&M’s 2021-22 season is now tied with its 2006-07 season with 27 wins. This only sits behind a single season in Aggie history.

That season is 2015-16 when Billy Kennedy took Texas A&M to the Sweet Sixteen in a 28-9 season for the Aggies. Texas A&M could match this total in the NIT Tournament Championship Game.

The Aggies will take on Xavier to try and reach 28 wins on the year. Despite A&M playing their best basketball over the past month, Xavier will give them a tough fight — the Muskateers have been just as hot as the Aggies.
