It’s hard to find any faults in the Texas A&M football team’s 2022 recruiting class. The Aggies’ record-setting class has seven five-star commits and set a nationwide record for overall class rating. It’s the best incoming class of freshmen in the history of college football.

And it might not be done there.

The Aggies still have a couple of last-second targets on the board, including a player who was originally a 2023 target before reclassifying. That player is Lebbeus Overton, a five-star defensive lineman who is now one of the best overall players in the 2022 class.

The Texas A&M football team is at risk of losing out on this five-star defensive lineman

It’s hard to believe that Jimbo Fisher could add any more talent to his 2022 class. As mentioned, it’s already the greatest class of all time — what more could you ask for?

The answer to that question would be “five-star 2022 DL Lebbeus Overton.”

As things stand, Texas A&M is the clear leader in Overton’s recruitment. There are three crystal ball predictions for Overton — two to A&M and one to Oklahoma. That said, Oregon might be breathing down these schools’ necks.

Steve Wiltfong hypothesizes that Overton could be eyeing down the Ducks as a team to join. Here’s what he said.

"“Right now we see the Ducks as the school best positioned to beat the Aggies.New head coach Dan Lanning is the reason. Overton and Lanning got really close when Lanning was the defensive coordinator at Georgia and Overton is excited now that Lanning is in the corner office. He could see himself going out to Eugene and helping Lanning build that program up.Overton likes the young staff at Oregon, he enjoyed the vibe on campus during his official in March, and the ties to Nike make a future out West enticing as well.”"

As a 6’4.5″, 265-point defensive lineman with a prototypical build for the next level. No matter how stacked A&M’s class already is, Overton would be a huge addition.

The Aggie target comes from a football family — his dad played at Oklahoma and his brother currently plays at Liberty. His mom was a “standout” volleyball player at Kentucky. The advantage here comes back to his father, who was an associate AD at Texas A&M for a decade between 1999 and 2009.

Next. A&M just got one step closer to a five-star commitment. dark

Even though Texas A&M’s 2022 class looks virtually complete, this would be a big land for Jimbo Fisher.
