Top-100 CB commits keep Texas A&M football a recruiting powerhouse
The Texas A&M football team made a bang when it entered the SEC with Johnny Manziel under center, defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide in year one. But the Aggies would quickly plateau around seven or eight wins per year under Kevin Sumlin, sending them into the Jimbo Fisher era.
Thus far, the Fisher era looks to be building itself upon one key aspect that hasn’t been seen in College Station — elite recruiting. A&M has had strong recruiting throughout the years but Fisher just brought in the greatest class in the history of college football. Heck, the argument could be made that his class, which features eight five-star players, is the best modern class in any sport.
And the Aggies are on their way to another elite class, as the 2023 cycle is starting to get rolling for A&M.
These two top-100 cornerbacks just cemented Texas A&M football’s secondary as one of the best for the foreseeable future
Texas A&M’s 2023 class got off to a slow start. For a large period of time, A&M only had a small handful of commits and those who were committed weren’t necessarily blue-chip recruits. To make matters worse, the Aggies actually lost one of their highest-profile commits in Eli Holstein, a quarterback who decided to re-open his recruitment.
Thankfully, it’s a long process, and Jimbo Fisher just gave Aggie fans a reason to believe that he can replicate his legendary 2022 class in 2023. That reason came in the form of two top-100 cornerback commitments.
The first commitment happened on Tuesday when four-star cornerback Bravion Rogers, the 60th-overall player in the 2023 class and 7th-best cornerback. His commitment would be followed up by one from Jayvon Thomas, another top-100 overall prospect and four-star cornerback.
These two commitments are just more building blocks in a mega-monster being built by Jimbo Fisher. In 2022, the Aggie head coach secured commitments from two four-star cornerbacks to go along with five-star Denver Harris.
With these two players, Fisher looks to be doing something that some didn’t think he was capable of — creating longevity in College Station.
