3. Stars need to step up

What makes the top-tier teams different than the rest is that when the game is on the line, their stars step up. The Aggies will need that this season if they want to reach double-digit wins. There is no doubt this team has star power on both sides of the ball, but will they shine during the dark times?

The brightest stars shine in the biggest moments, and when playing in the SEC, there will be a lot of those moments. During tough games against Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida this season, those players will need to stick out and lead this team through the thick.

On offense, there is still a question at quarterback, but everything around him will be in place. Running back Devon Achane should take over Isaiah Spiller in 2022 and he will be the lead back in that group. Behind a stout o-line, he should have a big season, and he will need to help carry the load when the passing game isn’t working. The pass-catchers for the Aggies will also need to step up in 2022. A group led by Ainias Smith, Jalen Preston, Evan Stewart, and Max Wright has a ton of potential, so they will be depended on heavily next season.

As for the defense, when they aren’t winning at the line of scrimmage, the back seven should be very strong. There are of course studs at linebacker in White Jr., and Cooper, but in the secondary is where the star power is found. Richardson and Johnson are both going to be expected to take over games when given the chance, and they will need to do so if this team wants to win close games in the SEC.
