Texas A&M has continued its recruiting hot streak with another big pickup on Saturday afternoon. Three-star Pennsylvania offensive tackle Naquil Betrand announced his commitment to the Aggies as he becomes the 10th commit of the class.

The 6’7, 310-pound prospect attends Northeast high school in Philadelphia but will transfer to St. Frances Academy in Baltimore for his senior season. Betrand chose Texas A&M over Auburn, Georgia, Penn State, Kentucky, and Syracuse. It was seemingly a race between the Aggies and Wildcats for the three-star recruit, but Jimbo Fisher secured his commitment with the help of last weekend’s pool party.

It was a huge win for Fisher when Betrand was expected to commit, but then pushed back his commitment a week to ensure he attended the pool party before making his decision. Before pushing back his commitment, experts were slightly leaning toward Kentucky as his future home. However, the rising senior will be wearing the maroon and white in 2023 instead.

Naquil Betrand became the third offensive lineman to commit to Texas A&M football this recruiting cycle.

The Philadelphia product is currently ranked as the 897th recruit in the country, according to the 247sports composite, which is his highest ranking to date. He is the 78th ranked offensive tackle in the country and the No. 18 player in Pennsylvania.

Betrand’s commitment bumps up Texas A&M to 30 in the 247sports 2023 recruiting rankings, up four spots. They stay put in the conference rankings at No. 8, but it creeps them closer to South Carolina, who sits at No. 7.

It’s clear Fisher is trying to stabilize the tackle spots for the future with this cycle. Thus far, the Aggies have picked up three offensive tackles; Top-70 recruit Chase Bisontis, four-star Colton Thomasson, and now three-star Betrand. Fisher is taking this offensive line in the right direction. To be successful in the SEC, winning in the trenches is a good start.
