The Texas A&M football recruiting team has been on an absolute tear over the past two weeks. Since receiving a commitment from top-70 offensive tackle Chase Bisontis in late July, they have been rolling.

Not even a week after Bisontis committed to the Aggies, the No. 1 linebacker in the nation, Anthony Hill, committed the day of the pool party. Hill is the top-rated recruit currently for the Aggies. Later that day, four-star athlete Dalton Brooks also announced his commitment to Jimbo Fisher and company.

While this doesn’t add to the 2023 class, the 2024 class got off to a great start the day after the pool party. College Station added four-star defensive lineman Daelyn Evans to their impressive streak. The most recent commitment came on August 1st, when 2023 three-star defensive lineman Samu Taumanupepe committed to Texas A&M.

Texas A&M football recruiting has had an impressive run over the past couple weeks, so what’s next for the 2023 class?

WR Shelton Sampson Jr., August 6th

The Aggies are headed into a big weekend on the recruiting trail with multiple prospects set to commit over the next couple of days. Louisiana five-star wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr. is scheduled to commit Saturday at 3:06pm CST at his high school.

Sampson Jr. is a huge target for the Aggies for the 2023 class. He has been on Fisher’s radar dating back to June 2021. Since then, the five-star prospect has attended several Aggie football camps and also attended the pool party on July 30th.

He now sits with a final four including Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU, and Florida State. It’s been difficult to get a read on where he’s leaning as of late. 247sports currently has two crystal ball predictions to LSU for Sampson, however the most recent prediction was logged in early July. It’s seemingly anyone’s game with LSU the slight favorite.

OT Naquil Beltrand, August 6th

The next scheduled commitment comes just 30 minutes after Sampson’s commitment. This one comes from Pennsylvania three-star offensive tackle Naquil Betrand. Betrand is set to commit on Saturday at 3:30 CST.

Betrand was previously committed to Colorado before decommitting at the beginning of July. He has received a lot more attention in the recruiting cycle since his decommitment, and he is now picking between the Aggies, Georgia, Syracuse, Auburn, Kentucky, and Penn State.

The 6’7, 310-pound recruit has visited College Station twice, once in April, and he also attended last weekend’s pool party. Texas A&M appears to be the favorite to land Betrand’s services, as 247sports currently has two crystal balls logged for the Aggies, the most recent being on August 3rd.

SAF Kylin Jackson, August 8th

The final scheduled commitment over the next couple days is Louisiana four-star safety Kylin Jackson. Jackson is expected to commit on Monday, with a time yet to be announced.

Jackson is a big-time secondary target for the Aggies and has been recruited by Fisher dating back to June 2021. He also has attended multiple camps at College Station and has most recently visited on June 17th.

LSU seems to be the favorite as well for the 6’1, 195-pound defensive back. They are favored in essentially every recruiting site, but the consensus is that it’s down to the Tigers and the Aggies. With the LSU campus only 30 miles away, he appears to want to stay closer to home.

To recap the next few days, expect at least one Aggie commitment, most likely coming from Betrand. The Aggies are still in the race for Sampson and Jackson’s services, and an inner-conference recruiting battle with the Tigers will be a tough one, but not impossible.
