3. DL Shemar Stewart

At number three, I have the #9 overall recruit from the 2022 recruiting cycle, defensive lineman Shemar Stewart. Stewart is coming into a somewhat thin defensive line group after key losses from the likes of Micheal Clemens, DeMarvin Leal, and Jayden Peevy.

Currently, the defensive end group specifically only brings back redshirt freshmen Tunmise Adeleye and redshirt sophomore Fadil Diggs, with the rest being true freshmen. I give Stewart the best chance out of the freshmen to win the starting job due to his build and versatility.

Standing at 6’4 and 285 pounds, he has the ability to be a down edge rusher or move to the inside. He has the athleticism to get into the backfield from anywhere along the line with his elite burst and strength at the point of attack.

When it comes down to it, Stewart has an SEC ready frame and only really needs to develop the technical side of his game. He still has a solid rip move and has shown flashes of having improved hand technique, but through his freshmen season, he has his elite athleticism to lean on when the going gets tough.
