Texas A&M Football has had its fair share of breakout players over the past few years, players that came out of nowhere and shot into collegiate stardom. Last season, we can specifically think of Antonio Johnson. Johnson had an as expected freshman season. He played under 200 snaps but showed flashes from time to time. He had a huge season last year and looks to be the best player on that defense.

The year prior, you could argue Jalen Wydermyer had the breakout year for the Aggies. His freshman season he actually played over 600 snaps, but his game really took a step up in year two.

Texas A&M football has a plethora of young talent at almost every position. Who will be the one to step up next season?

I’m going to address this before anyone brings it up, I am automatically disqualifying the quarterbacks from this list. It is nothing against them, it’s just a matter of nobody knowing who will be given the starting spot right away. However, no matter who wins the gig, they have a good to great chance to break out due to the amount of talent around them.

5. DE Tunmise Adeleye

At number five on this list, I have defensive end Tunmise Adeleye. Adeleye was a five-star prospect by Rivals, and he is stepping into the starting spot left by Micheal Clemons and Jayden Peevy.

Adeleye not only was able to learn from Clemons and Peevy last season, but he has had an entire year to build off of his natural strength and burst by adding to the technical part of his game. With his stature, standing at 6’4, 290 pounds, he has inside-out versatility and can be immensely disruptive in the run game.

His explosiveness and violent hands will give linemen fits, and he should fare very well against conference competition. Assuming he stays healthy, he should be a major contributor on the defensive line with only three other upperclassmen in the group. Expect him to tear up non-conference competition and create pressure on opposing offenses.
